Safety Protocols and Patient Information

Dear VVM Families:

We hope this letter finds you and your loved ones in good health. We are looking forward to seeing your child at our office soon. While many things have changed because of COVID-19, one thing has remained the same: our commitment to your child’s safety.

Infection control has always been a top priority for our practice. Our infection control processes are made so that when your child receives care, it is both safe and comfortable.

Our office follows infection control recommendations made by the American Dental Association (ADA), the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA). We follow the activities of these agencies so that we are up-to-date on any new rulings or guidance that may be issued due to COVID-19. We do this to make sure that our infection control procedures are current and adhere to each agencies’ recommendations.

You will see some changes when it is time for your child’s next appointment. We made these changes to best protect our patients and staff.

  • Our office will communicate with you beforehand to ask some screening questions. You’ll be asked those same questions again when you accompany your child to his/her appointment.

  • We will ask that you check in by calling our office from your car and remain in your car until we confirm that we are ready to see your child.

  • We will ask you and your child to use hand sanitizer when you enter the office. The adult accompanying the child will be required to wear a mask, as well as all children over the age of 2.

  • We are only able to allow the accompanying adult and child(ren) with an appointment in the office at this time.

  • You will see that our waiting room will no longer offer magazines, children’s toys, etc. since those items are difficult to clean and disinfect thoroughly.

  • Appointments will be managed to allow for social distancing between patients and families.

  • We will be allotting more time between patients to reduce waiting times for you, as well as to reduce the number of patients in the reception area at any one time.

Thank you for trusting us in the care of your child. We look forward to seeing you and your child again and are happy to answer any questions you may have about the specific steps we take to keep your child safe in our practice.
